In a rather heart-wrenching human interest story, an old lady died at the pension office in Vijayawada.
It is being said that the deceased old lady had gone to the pension office in Chitti Nagar in Vijayawada. And the place had a huge line of old pensioners already waiting in a long queue.
When the guards opened the gates to allow the old pensioners inside, in the ensuing rush, an old lady died on the spot. Following the incident, fellow pensioners and her family members sat on a dharna.
However, it is rather sad that though the pension amount has been increased, making old pensioners run around post offices and pension offices is rather shameful. Can’t the Rs 1000 that is being given to them be sent directly to their homes?
Should the government which claims to be building a smart city and promises smart administration not be looking into the matter and find a viable solution for the pensioners?
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has expressed his grief over the incident and ordered an enquiry into the matter.
