Congress is at it once again, this time in Assam. Illegal immigration has always been a major issue in Assam and West Bengal.

At the same time, Hindus living in Bangladesh are having to flee that country as they are being persecuted because of their religion.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is now asking for the Governor P B Acharya to be recalled because he recently said that ‘Hindustan is for Hindus’.

At first glance, this might seem to be a Hindutva statement and Tarun Gogoi justified in his demand. But what if one were to look at the context in which the Governor said these remarks and what he exactly said?

Referring to Hindus fleeing persecution in Bangladesh and entering India, the Governor said, “If a Hindu is in trouble, where else can he go to except India? Hindustan is his mother and he shall come back to his mother’s fold. Hindustan is for Hindus.”

Ahead of the elections, the Congress seems to whipped out its dirty brand of politics once again.
