No Clarity Yet On Spl Status To AP!

The Centre has not given any clarity on granting special status to Andhra Pradesh as was promised in the Lok Sabha during bifurcation of the State and it might take a few more months.

This was revealed by Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu in the Assembly on Saturday. Referring to the special status to the State of Andhra Pradesh, he said it is likely that the Centre may give clarity by March 2015.

The minister introduced the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Draft Bill in the State Assembly for new capital for Andhra Pradesh.

He clarified that the bill was aimed at land pooling for the new capital. The bill has to be passed in the House and then get a nod from Governor ESL Narasimhan. On the Governor’s approval of the bill to become an Act, the government will issue a notification for land procurement, he said.

All assets and liabilities in VGTM area will come under purview of the CRDA Act, he said, adding that affidavits will be collected from farmers giving land for the capital city, Ramakrishnudu said.
