A number of followers of slain gangster Nayeemuddin have joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi after the formation of Telangana state.
This was disclosed by former minister Uma Madhav Reddy’s son Sandeep Reddy on Thursday. Refuting the allegations that his mother had supported Nayeem and used him to eliminate Naxalites who killed his father Madhav Reddy in 1996, Sandeep accused the ruling TRS of trying to malign the image of his family in Nalgonda district.
He pointed out that the followers of Nayeem, whose names had surfaced after the encounter, were in the TDP in the past, but joined the TRS in the presence of Minister G Jagadeesh Reddy after the TRS came to power.
“So, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao should give an explanation to the people as to why there in his party,” he said.
Uma Madhav Reddy strongly refuted the rumours of her association with Nayeem.
“I had never seen him nor did I receive any phone calls from him. I have been using my late husband’s phone and I don’t have any other mobile. Let the police show whether it figures in the call list of Nayeem. The government should order a judicial inquiry into the killing of Nayeem and if it is proved that I have connections with him, I am ready to go jail,” she said.
