Nandyal Bypoll: Akhila Banks On Naidu

Andhra Pradesh tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya who has taken it as a prestigious issue to secure victory for her cousin Brahmanand Reddy in the Nandyal by-elections necessitated with the demise of her father Bhuma Nagi Reddy, is banking solely on Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The by-elections for Nandyal seat have now become inevitable with YSR Congress party announcing the candidature of former minister Shilpa Mohan Reddy, who recently shifted his loyalties from the TDP.

Shilpa is a seasoned leader in Kurnool district, whereas Akhila is still a political novice. Naturally, she lacks the political skills to face a senior like Shilpa.

Though she has the support of veteran leader S P Y Reddy and uncle A V Subba Reddy, she does not know how far they can influence the voters. So, she is looking up to Naidu to ensure that her cousin wins the polls.

Naidu is presently working out the strategies for the Bhuma family. He is expected to form a team of senior party leaders to camp in Nandyal till the bypolls and take care of all the requirements to win the bypoll, sources said.

That is why Akhila is now speaking confidently on winning the bypoll. She said if the TDP wins, the credit would go entirely to the party boss and the cadre and if the party loses, she would take the total responsibility.

“If my brother loses the elections, I will resign from my cabinet post,” Akhila declared.
