Naidu's 'Vision' Shifts From 2020 To 2029

Naidu's 'Vision' Shifts From 2020 To 2029

When the Telugu Desam Party was in power in the united Andhra Pradesh till 2004, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu used to talk about Vision-2020 and his government had prepared lengthy documents as to how the state would progress under the TDP regime to emerge as No. 1 state by 2020.

Despite his tall claims, Naidu lost power in 2004 and his dreams of continuing in power till 2020 failed to materialise. Much water has flown in Krishna and Godavari since then and the state got divided into Telangana and residuary AP.

Now that Naidu returned to power in the truncated state of AP with 13 districts, he has dug out his vision document again and has now revised the target of developing the state by 2029.

He is now taking about Sunrise Andhra Pradesh Vision 2029 document that envisions to remould the state into a happy and globally-competitive society by 2029.

He is planning to set up a Sunrise AP Vision 2029 Governing Board under his chairmanship for steering and mentoring the implementation of the Vision.

The government projected that Rs 17 lakh crore will be required for building infrastructure in the state by 2029.

The question is whether Naidu will remain in power till then. Even before the document gets ready, Naidu faced defeat in 2004 polls. What is going to be his fate in 2019 is yet to be watched.
