Naidu's quality capital works exposed with one rain!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu always boasts of constructing a world-class capital city of Amaravati and says the new capital would be among the top three cities in the world.

But, the quality of his hi-tech capital city works stood exposed with just one rain on Tuesday night. The heavy rains that lashed Guntur, Krishna and Amaravati areas brought to light the poor quality of works in the state secretariat at Velagapudi constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 1000 crore.

The entire Secretariat premises was flooded with rain water, resulting in a large scale water logging and approach roads turning slush.

There were reports of rain water leakages in some blocks in the Secretariat. In the assembly building, the chambers of the Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was completely damaged due to collapse of false ceiling.

The officials tried to cover up the damage saying the leakages were due to some repair works in the chamber.

Before the construction of the capital itself, environmentalists warned that it was being built on a water-logging area adjacent to Krishna river and if there was a deluge, the entire capital city would be inundated.

Forget deluge, just a downpour has caused considerable damage to Amaravati!
