Apparently enthused by the victory of the Telugu Desam Party in the MLC elections, particularly in Kadapa – the fiefdom of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu declared that his next target would be capturing the Pulivendula assembly constituency represented by Jagan.
Naidu put up an aggressive posture in the state assembly on Monday, launching a counter-attack on Jagan.
He reminded that the people had voted for the TDP because they believed he would develop the state, as he had done with Hyderabad during his earlier stint in combined Andhra Pradesh.
“My next target would be Pulivendula. I will develop the constituency like never before and get the people’s mandate there,” he challenged.
He said there were only chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh who had no high command.
“One, N T Rama Rao and the second one is me. For the Congress chief ministers, including Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, Sonia was the high command. But for me, people are my high command. I will work for the people, not for the opposition parties,” Naidu said.
He expressed confidence that he would be the chief minister in 2019 as well and there was no doubt about it.
“Opposition doesn't mean breaking microphones, rushing to podium and attacking Speaker. I never did such acts,” Naidu recalled.
