When he was in the opposition, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu used to demand inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into every allegation he used to level against the Congress government led by Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, be it irregularities in Jalayagnam or the land grabbings in and around Hyderabad or scams like in the case of Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyan etc or Obulapuram mining scam or even Emaar MGF land scandal.
And, allegedly in collusion with the then Congress government, Naidu got the CBI inquiry ordered into the alleged quid pro quo deals of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and got him arrested. The case is still on.
Now, the same TDP president is strongly rejecting the demand for a CBI inquiry into the alleged involvement of the political leaders in sensational Visakhapatnam land scam. The excuse is very strange.
He says the CBI inquiry would take a long time and there would not be quick justice in the land scam. Hence, he had ordered an inquiry by special investigation team of the police.
Does it mean Naidu has no faith in the CBI probe? If that is the case, why did he insist on CBI probe into various allegations during YSR regime? Why this double standard, Mr Naidu?
