YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Wednesday staged walk out from the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly expressing dissatisfaction over the reply of Agriculture Minister on farmers’ loans waiver.
Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy pointed out that the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting has found that there was Rs 87,000 crores of agricultural loans and Rs 14,000 crores DWCRA loans in the State.
He alleged that the TDP government has brought GO NO. 174 deviating from its poll promise of agriculture and DWACRA loans waiver.
In the GO, the government has put conditions and restrictions for loans waiver to minimize the beneficiaries, he regretted.
Reminding that a mere Rs 5,000 crore has been allocated for the purpose in the budget, Jaganmohan Reddy felt that the interest on agriculture and DWACRA loans would be nearly Rs 12,000 crores.
He questioned the government as to who would bear the amount. He urged the government to desist from chanting false slogans on loans waiver.
Rejecting the allegation of the ruling party members that he has opposed the loans waiver, the Opposition leader made it clear that YSRCP promised in the election manifesto that it would bring pressure on the Centre for waiver of agriculture loans.
