The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu made a startling comment in regard to the controversy on bauxite mining.
He said that the recent Government Order (GO) on bauxite mining was issued without his knowledge.
It is public knowledge that following vehement opposition from tribals and civil society members to bauxite mining, Naidu has put the project on hold. But saying that the GO was issued without he being aware of it, is nothing short of ridiculous.
It is just making fools of people. With 18% of the bauxite deposits, AP is the second largest repository of bauxite after Odisha.
The whole mining contracts can easily run into lakhs of cores. And the CM says that such a GO was passed without his knowledge.
A lame statement indeed to escape political heat! Who was it who issued the GO then? Lokesh? But Naidu will surely go ahead with bauxite mining despite the odds being stacked against him.
Who was able to stop him in Amaravathi?
