Naidu Upset With Groupism In Anantapur

The growing internecine wars in the Telugu Desam Party in Anantapur district, which is considered to be a TDP stronghold, is learnt to have caused a lot of headache to party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Naidu is said to be terribly upset with the developments in Anantapur district and on Sunday, he gave a dressing down to the party leaders at the meeting of the district party coordination committee.

According to party sources, the internal wrangling in the TDP in Anantapur has reached a peak with the leaders quarrelling among themselves over the MLC elections.

While Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha is lobbying strongly to get ticket for Subramanyam, a hardcore loyalist of her husband late Paritala Ravi, Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy, who defected from the Congress before the 2014 elections, started pulling the strings in favour of his son-in-law Deepak Reddy.

All the groups, including the one led by Payyavula Kesav, are rallying behind Diwakar Reddy for the cause of his son-in-law, Sunitha has started fighting a lone battle.

According to sources, Naidu had a one-to-tone talk with senior leaders of the party to sort out the issues. Notably, Hindupur MLA and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna and Diwakar Reddy did not make it to the `counselling’ session.

Naidu is learnt to have warned that he would have to take stern action against the leaders, whatever might be their stature, if they did not give up their differences and fight unitedly for the party’s victory in the MLC elections.
