Naidu Drops Vizag Beach Festival Plan?

Naidu Drops Vizag Beach Festival Plan?

It could be due to criticism from the YSR Congress party or the pressure from his political ally Bharatiya Janata Party, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is said to have dropped the plan to hold Viskhapatnam beach love festival between February 12 and 14.

Naidu, who was in Visakhapatnam a couple of days ago, reviewed the decision on holding beach festival at a meeting with officials. Apparently, the officials brought to his notice that there would be massive protests from women’s organisations and also the opposition parties, if the festival is held.

Besides, the Sangh groups like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and RSS are vehemently opposing the festival and if there are any violent incidents, it would spoil the image of the government as well as Vizag city among the foreign tourists,

Having realised that it is going to create unnecessary headache for him, Naidu reportedly instructed them to shelve the beach festival project.

He told a gathering later that he would not take any decision that was against the Indian culture and tradition and blamed it on the Opposition parties for raising a hue and cry over a non-issue.
