Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have asked his ministers not to make any unnecessary comments on the special category status to Andhra Pradesh, in the wake of reports that the Centre might come out with an announcement any time.
Naidu sounded an alert to his ministers at the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. He told them that the Centre might come out with the news on special category status or special package in a day or two and hence, asked them to reserve their comments till an announcement is made.
“Let us not jeopardise the situation by making unnecessary comments, reacting to the criticism from the Opposition parties. Let us maintain restraint and any statements to the media can be issued only after the announcement is made,” he said.
The Assembly session of AP will commence on Wednesday and Naidu will have to face severe attack from the Opposition YSR Congress party on special category status issue.
So, Naidu is expecting that the Centre will come out with a statement before the session or immediately after the conclusion on September 10.
