Mudragada House-Arrested; No Padayatra For Now!

Mudragada House-Arrested; No Padayatra For Now!

As expected, the Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh stalled the proposed padayatra by Kapu strongman and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham across the state demanding reservations for Kapus on Tuesday.

Though the Hyderabad High Court in the morning gave clearance to Mudragada to take out padayatra stating that the government had no right to stop the yatra, the Chandrababu Naidu government was hell bent on stopping him from doing so.

The court said there was no need for any permission, the government said it would pass through sensitive areas and there was every possibility of anti-social elements to enter the yatra and create troubles.

The court said it was the responsibility of the government to provide police protection to yatra to see that there were no untoward incidents.

However, Naidu government did not allow Mudragada to come out of his house and kept him under house arrest. This led to unrest in the tense Kirlampudi village in East Godavari.

Having no option, Mudragada declared that he was postponing padayatra and the next date would be announced shortly.
