Modi Wouldn't Have Divided AP?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement regarding the wide-spread speculation about the division of Maharashtra and Mumbai has intrigued many.

In the past, BJP had hinted that it was for a separate Vidharbha. Even now, the Maharashtra BJP leader Devendra maintains that BJP is committed to the cause of a separate Vidharbha state. He claims that BJP is for a small-state system within the country.

However, in total contrast to the Maharashtra leaders, Narendra Modi has announced that no force can divide the land on which Sivaji was born.

He has also strongly indicated that no such division would happen till he is in the prime minister’s seat and that Maharashtra people must refrain from being swayed by the claims of other party members.

Now it appears as if the Maharashtra BJP and Narendra Modi have different opinions on the issue and that both of them have their own agendas.

In fact, in the case of Andhra Pradesh, it was widely felt that Narendra Modi would not have let the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh be divided into two separate states.

It now appears as if Modi would not have allowed for AP to divide if Congress did not bifurcate the state before losing in 2014 general elections.
