Modi road show in Vizag: Ram, Ram to Naidu?

Modi road show in Vizag: Ram, Ram to Naidu?

In what is considered to be a rude shock to TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the BJP has chosen Visakhapatnam for holding its national executive committee meetings in July this year.

As part of the meetings, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning to participate in a 23-km long road show in Visakhapatnam in a bid to send signals to the people that the BJP juggernaut is going to roll on in southern India as well.

According to party sources, the BJP is likely to disclose its intentions to go alone in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the forthcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

It would mean curtains for the TDP-BJP alliance at least before the elections.

“The BJP’s intention is to win as many Lok Sabha seats as possible in South, without having to depend on the allies. May be, it will have a friendly fight with the TDP in the assembly elections, if it decides to maintain friendly relations with the latter,” a BJP leader said.

In any case, it will be a big setback for the TDP if the BJP takes a plunge into elections on its own.

It will definitely split the pro-TDP votes, while the anti-establishment vote will go in favour of the YSR Congress party.

And there is already Jana Sena Party which will also play spoil sport with the TDP chances in the next elections. And that might spell doom for the TDP!
