Ministers Upset With Naidu Show In Delhi

The way Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu conceded ground to his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao during the Apex Council meeting on irrigation held on September 21 has not been taken kindly by Naidu’s cabinet colleagues.

In their private conversations with some media persons, the ministers are learnt to have expressed their dissatisfaction over Naidu failing to question the Telangana chief minister’s aggressive approach on the irrigation projects on Krishna basin.

“The arguments put forth by Naidu on Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi projects on Krishna basin lacked sufficient strength. This was cleverly used by KCR to turn the tables on Naidu by showing video clippings of Modi speech in Mahbubnagar,” a minister observed.

At the same time, Naidu also failed to put forth his point in the pro-rata sharing of Krishna waters by the two states. Instead, he blindly agreed to KCR’s suggestion that the states could use the waters allocated to them by the tribunal.

“It means, the Telangana will release water to the downstream, only after utilising its share of water through its project. There will be trouble in AP in the years of water scarcity,” another minister observed.
