Kannada actress Ramya is a known face even in Telugu film industry. She acted with Kalyan Ram in a Telugu film, besides several dubbed films including "Surya, Son of Krishnan."
When she was at the peak of her career, she entered politics and won the by-elections to Mandya Lok Sabha constituency on Congress ticket. However, she could not withstand the Modi wave in 2014 and lost the elections like many other Congress leaders.

Recently, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah sacked a few ministers including Ambarish, who subsequently quit even his MLA seat.
With Ambarish’s exit, the Congress party might lose cine glamour and Siddaramaiah is said to be toying with the idea of bringing Ramya into the scene by offering her MLC seat and later taking her into the cabinet.
