Long-Time-No-See DLR To Join YSRC?

Long-Time-No-See DLR To Join YSRC?

It has been a long time since one has heard about D L Ravindra Reddy, former Congress Minister from Mydukuru in Kadapa district.

After the bifurcation of the combined Andhra Pradesh state, DLR, as he is popularly known, announced that he had quit the Congress and would be joining the TDP.

Though he did not formally join the TDP, he attended a few TDP meetings and even got the party tickets to his followers in MPTC, ZPTC and municipal elections. Subsequently, he went to the US on a vacation and nothing much was heard about him later.

The latest news is that DLR is going to join the YSR Congress party. Very recently, he extended support to Y S Vivekanand Reddy, uncle of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, in the forthcoming MLC elections from local bodies’ constituency.

Viveka met DLR at the latter’s residence to seek his support. Further lending credence to DLR’s move to join the YSRC, a large number of posters appeared in Mydukur in the recent past with his pictures along with that of YSR, Jagan, local MLA Raghurami Reddy and others.

It is interesting to see how DLR, who was once a bitter critic of Jagan and had even contested against the latter in the Kadapa Lok Sabha by-elections in 2011, would fit in the party.

In any case, DLR’s entry will strengthen the YSRC in Kadapa where the TDP is desperately trying to gain a foothold for the 2019 elections.
