Telangana Telugu Desam Party leaders on Wednesday received a rude shock when party general secretary Nara Lokesh Naidu told them bluntly that there is no question of giving them Rajya Sabha seat.
Telugu Desam Legislature Party leader in Assembly A Revanth Reddy, along with former minister Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Vijayawada in the morning and appealed to him to give one Rajya Sabha seat to a Telangana leader, since they have been sincerely trying to protect the identity of the party in the region.
Mothkupally in particular submitted his application to Naidu seeking the RS ticket, and the latter told him that he would consider the application, if the third seat cannot be given to the BJP. He asked them to be in touch with Lokesh.
When they met Lokesh in the afternoon, he bluntly told them that there is no possibility of giving any RS seat to Telangana leaders since there is a heavy competition in Andhra itself.
“Even if the BJP does not take the third seat, it cannot be given to the Telangana leaders,” he said, much to the disgruntlement of Telangana leaders.
