Lagadapati's second innings in TDP?

Former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal might have announced retirement from active politics after the passage of Andhra Pradesh bifurcation bill in the Parliament. But indications are that he might begin his second innings in the Telugu Desam Party.

According to sources, Lagadapati has been closely moving the TDP leaders of late. On Wednesday, too, he was seen moving with TDP Rajya Sabha member Sujana Chowdary and both of them had visited jailed TDP leader Vasantha Krishna Prasad, son of former minister Vasantha Nageshwara Rao. And he predicted that the TDP would come to power in Seemandhra.

In fact, Lagadapati has started coming close to the TDP leaders during his last days as MP. He even came to the rescue of TDP MP Modugula Venugopal Reddy in Lok Sabha by resorting to pepper spray, when the latter was being attacked by Telangana MPs. Now, he is trying to get into the TDP to sustain his political future.

Sources said the main reason for Lagapati trying to join the TDP was obviously to get into the good books of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Obviously, he needs Modi intervention to get out of the financial mess and also financial irregularities committed by his Lanco group.
