Lady Speaketh: TDP Gets A Dose Of Its Own Medicine

In a case of where the doctor gets a taste of his own medicine, the TDP finally got to see the Roja who was a terror to the opposition leaders when she was in TDP.

She was known for her fiery nature and the way she took on opposition leaders irrespective of whether it was a woman or a man.

In fact, she was also known to throw open challenges from time to time during her political career which began with TDP.

But now, she is on the other side of the fence and is a sitting MLA with the YSRCP party.

Ever since she moved to YSRCP, Roja has been low-key and she hasn’t really torn apart the opposition party leaders in her inimitable style.

In fact, her passive presence in the Assembly left many wondering. However, that has changed finally. Ever since Roja has been made the in-charge of women’s wing in YSRCP, she has back to being her good old self.

She has taken on the ruling TDP for its tame policy regarding the BCs, SCs, STs and minorities.

Not to be bogged down by her aggressive speech, the TDP leaders counter attacked her saying that minority and BC welfare sounded amusing coming from Roja. However, Roja was not one to back off. She retorted strongly by saying that one need not be a BC, SC, ST or minority to talk about their welfare.

She countered them by reminding them that she was the daughter-in-law of a BC household and she had every right to question the ruling TDP’s stand on the issue.

Their late leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy set the precedent of working for the welfare of minorities and he was no member of the minority community, she reminded the House.

Till now, apart from Jagan, only the voices of Srikanth Reddy and Sridhar Reddy have been heard in Assembly. But it has to be acknowledged that Roja surpasses them by her strong oratory skills which leave the opposition speechless.

Incidentally, Roja who had vehemently criticized YS Rajasekhara Reddy when she was in TDP has become a hot topic of discussion among the TDP leaders. But that is what politics is all about.

Gollapalli Surya Rao who was a minister in YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s cabinet has now joined TDP and leaves no opportunity to criticize YSR.

Well, that’s the way things work in the political world.
