KVP Wants To Die In Congress!

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao on Saturday said that being a Congress loyalist, he would like to die as a party activist.

Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, KVP extended thanks to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Vice-chairman Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other Delhi bosses for the opportunity given to him.

He declared that he would prefer to stay put in the party rather than switching over to any other party.

“During the regime of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy from 2004 to 2009, I had played a key role in the Congress affairs and for the State development. And I will continue to remain in the party till my last breath,” he said.

KVP’s remarks assumed significance as the general elections will see some serious changes in political equations and defections at top level.

He recalled that he has been in the Congress for quite a long time and would like to continue in it. It took him long time to become an MP from the Congress party only after persistent efforts made from 1998 to 2008.

He said that his friend late YS Rajasekhar Reddy helped him join the party in 1982 and Indira Gandhi had given him an opportunity at the behest of Rajiv Gandhi then.
