KVP Takes Battle Into Venkaiah Camp!

KVP Takes Battle Into Venkaiah Camp!

With the Centre rejecting the demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh, Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu has virtually gone into silent mode.

Though local BJP leaders are trying to counter the criticism from the Telugu Desam Party leaders, Venkaiah did not utter a word so far.

Adding to his embarrassing situation, Congress party’s Rajya Sabha member and senior leader K V P Ramachandra Rao sought to throw ball into the court of Venkaiah to secure special status to AP, since it was the latter who had raised a hue and cry over the issue during the passage of bifurcation bill in Parliament.

“It is not fair on the part of the NDA government to say that special category status issue is not part of the AP Reorganisation Bill. You know well, why it was not included in the Bill, since it had to be sent back to Lok Sabha and there was no possibility of it passing the amended bill in the last few days of Parliament. And when Prime Minister himself made a statement on special status at your insistence, the successive government has a responsibility to honour it,” KVP said.

He asked Venakaih to take initiative and see that the private member bill on special status be passed with the support of BJP members.

“The responsibility lies on you as the Telangana formation would not have been possible without your initiative,” he said.
