KVP Bill On Special Status A Futile Exercise!

KVP Bill On Special Status A Futile Exercise!

All the efforts by Congress MP K V P Ramachandra Rao to get his private member bill on special status to Andhra Pradesh passed in Rajya Sabha are going to go waste with the Upper House unlikely to take up the bill on Friday.

According to sources, the Rajya Sabha is going to get adjourned soon after bidding farewell to outgoing RS members on Friday, without taking up any further agenda. In fact, the Upper House would have been adjourned sine die on Thursday itself but for the death of a sitting RS member Praveen Rashtrapal; so farewell function has been postponed to Friday.

Yet, KVP has succeeded in mobilising the support of majority of the Opposition members. Even the TDP has extended support to KVP bill, much to the embarrassment of its ally, BJP.

Had the bill come up for discussion and voting, it would have been passed easily, pushing the NDA government into trouble. So, better luck next time, KVP!
