IT minister and KCR' son K.T.Rama Rao had emerged even stronger in ruling TRS party after the party registered landslide victory in Warangal Lok Sabha by poll.
In fact, it was KTR who pitched for TRS ticket to Pasunuri Dayakar and managed to secure the ticket overcoming the pressure brought by his sister and Nizambad MP Kavitha and T Harish Rao, the nephew of KCR, on the party leadership.
Kavitha and Harish batted for their followers but KCR finally zeroed in on candidate recommended by KTR,
KTR virtually camped in Warangal for two weeks, visiting each and every household even in remote villages seeking votes for Dayakar.
KTR was under tremendous pressure as the onus of ensuring victory for Dayakar was more on him than anyone else. Not only that, he had an obligation to retain the big majority of 3.90 lakh votes secured by Kadiam Srihari in 2014 elections.
There were reports of TRS government facing severe anti-incumbency wave in Telangana and Opposition parties also stepped up efforts by roping in national and state leaders for campaigning.
Finally, KTR has the last laugh with his follower Dayakar not only registering a spectacular win of nearly 4.50 lakh votes majority but also all the Opposition parties losing their deposits.
TRS insiders see the Warangal bypoll has further consolidated KTR's position in the party and made him successor to TRS party president post and CM post, after KCR hangs up his boots sometime after 2019 elections.
