KCR's China Tour, Just A Pleasure Trip!

KCR's China Tour, Just A Pleasure Trip!

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's visit to China and Hong Kong is nothing but a flop show. It was more like a leisure trip rather than any business trip.

This was the general opinion by many of the observers. The Opposition parties, particularly the Congress, as usual demanded a White Paper on total investments that KCR and his team were able to mobilise for the State.

According to analysts, except an agreement on setting up of an LED manufacturing unit in Hyderabad by a Chinese firm, there was not a single MoU signed with any industry during KCR's visit to China and Hong Kong.

All that one could understand from the CMO press releases that KCR had visited a few industrial houses and requested the Chinese companies to invest in Telangana.

While one could understand KCR’s visit to China as part of the invitation from the World Economic Forum, one wondered what his team members including Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary, Legislative Council chairman Swamy Goud, minister Jagadish Reddy and MLA G Balaraju had done in China, except enjoying a holiday.

“Instead of making tall claims that he got assurances of investments worth several thousand crores, the Chief Minister should release a White Paper giving specific details. He should also mention the details of investments that he was able to mobilise during his visit to Malaysia and Singapore earlier,” senior Congress leader Mohd Ali Shabbir said.

According to Shabbir Ali, on an average, Rs 50 lakh per day were spent on KCR's visit to China. He said that the Chief Minister should justify this spending as his visit took place in the backdrop of suicide by one farmer in every three hours in the State.

While the farmers got no financial assistance from the government, the Chief Minister took a luxury jet for his tour to hop around places of tourist importance.
