The Telangana government headed by K Chandrasekhara Rao seems to have found its own alternative to Aadhar cards in the State.
The government is said to be planning to introduce Telangana Citizen Cards to the people to avail of the benefits of the welfare and other schemes which are foolproof in the State.
The decision is learnt to have been taken to avoid corruption in the implementation of schemes and see that the benefits reach only the eligible people.
KCR directed the officials to conduct a comprehensive survey on the social status of the people in villages to serve the real beneficiaries with government schemes.
As part of the scheme, the government would focus on weeding out bogus ration cards in a big way.
He opined that large scale corruption has taken place in housing, pensions, ration card distribution and the real beneficiaries were at loss and said, “Such practices should not be allowed in Telangana.”
