KCR Delaying Tactics On Metro Rail

The Congress Legislature Party on Friday strongly objected to the proposed changes in the alignment of Metro Rail project in the city.

Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here, CLP deputy leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Secretary Rammohan Reddy and MLCs MS Prabhakar and Ranga Reddy alleged that the State Government was trying to delay the Metro Rail project by proposing changes in its alignment.

They also took the media persons at the Metro Rail site opposite Assembly and claimed that the route neither disturbs the Assembly building nor affects the Gun Park.

In fact, they said that Metro Rail passengers would have a closer look at Telangana Martyrs' Memorial while travelling on the route.

Mallu said that the Congress Government had finalised the project only after taking all aspects into consideration and therefore, the original alignment should continue.

He said that the proposed changes in alignment at Assembly, Sultan Bazar or in the Old City would increase the project cost by about Rs 3,000 crore and the same burden would be passed on to the common people by way of high pricing of metro rail tickets.

He warned of massive protests if any changes are made in the Metro Rail alignment.
