Jagan, Don't Bank On These Left Parties!

One must appreciate the efforts of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in taking the 'Save Democracy' battle to New Delhi to expose the corrupt deeds of the Telugu Desam Party government headed by his bete noire N Chandrababu Naidu.

He distributed copies of his booklet “Emperor of Corruption” among all the top political leaders in the country, to explain how Naidu was resorting to corrupt practices like illegal land dealings in the capital region of Amaravati and using the ill-gotten money to lure YSRC MLAs into the TDP.

Needless to say, this book is a counter to the similar book titled “Raja of Corruption” brought out by Naidu when he was in the Opposition to attack the then Y S Rajasekhar Reddy government.

One does not know whether Jagan would get the expected political mileage out of this effort and how many of Delhi leaders would extend support to his “Save Democracy” campaign.

More than anybody else, CPI (M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury gave a strong support to Jagan’s save democracy campaign. He is also learnt to have given tips to Jagan on how to carry out people’s movements against Naidu.

He even went to the extent of saying that the horse-trading politics of Uttarakhand are nothing before the purchase of MLAs by Chandrababu Naidu.

Jagan might be euphoric by getting such a support from Yechuru, but he has to be very careful in choosing his friends at the national level. Particularly, Jagan should not get carried away by the support extended by the Left parties.

They are the most opportunistic political parties in the country. Jagan should not be surprised, if the same Yechury joins hands with Chandrababu Naidu, the moment the TDP severs its ties with the BJP to forge a new alliance. The left parties do not hesitate to dump Jagan if they don’t want him. So, be careful, Mr Jagan!
