Jagan Displays Dignity In Assembly

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday put up a dignified posture in the Assembly by tendering an apology on behalf of his party MLAs and withdrawing the no-confidence motion against Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.

Though the ruling Telugu Desam Party members tried to provoke him by moving a privilege motion, Jagan showed dignity in accepting his mistake.

“If my party members in the House used any unparliamentary language against the Speaker and behaved indecently in a manner that hurt the Speaker, I offer unconditional apology on behalf of all my party MLAs,” he said.

Jagan maintained that he and his party members have respect for the integrity and sanctity of the Speaker’s chair as well as Speaker in personal.

He explained that his party leaders lost temper and rushed towards the well and the podium shouting slogans for justice when the ruling party members and ministers used provocative language. But his MLAs did not intend to lower the dignity of the Speaker's chair.

Minister for Legislative Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu demanded that the Opposition party leaders deserve some punishment. However, after Jagan’s apology, he said the government never wanted to expel the Opposition members from the House and never thought to run the Assembly without the Opposition.

After a long discussion, the Speaker urged the members to maintain dignity of the House while using language and be careful with body language since everything that is going on in the House is being watched by people through live channels.

He also assured the House that if he was proved guilty of bias or otherwise, he would resign from the post to maintain the dignity of the House.
