YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is making all out efforts to capitalize on the growing opposition from farmers against the Chandrababu Naidu government’s move to acquire land for the proposed State capital Amaravati.
Jagan got tremendous response to his dharna at AP Capital Region Development Authority in Vijayawada in protest against the TDP government’s decision to use the land acquisition ordinance against farmers in the Amaravati capital region.
“Despite the government having acquired land of 33,000 acres in addition to the 30,000 acres of government land available the TDP is going for the 3,000 acres of land that farmers are not willing to surrender," Jagan said.
The party is not opposed to the capital region but to the government acquiring the land forcibly, he said, adding that he would return all the acquired lands to farmers, if YSRC is voted to power in the next elections.
The dharna is said to have generated a lot of sympathy for Jagan in the area, but it remains to be seen how much political mileage he would be getting in the coming days.
