Following the violence in Tuni, the government has reportedly taken an undertaking from police personnel that the former will not support or take part in any agitation.
Since Kapus constitute the largest community in Andhra Pradesh now, they are probably present in significant numbers in the police force too apart from the BC’s.
The government is probably worried that those from the Kapu community might side with the protestors or go soft on them in an agitation and the same scenario might be expected from the BC caste personnel. But taking an undertaking from the police is not a proper thing to do.
It is naturally expected of them to be placing their duty above everything else. Even during the Telangana and Samaikhyandhra agitations, no such diktats were given to them.
