Intolerant Naidu sacks IYR as Brahmin Corpn chief

It is an open secret that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu does not tolerate any criticism against him and his government from anybody in any manner.

The way he acted against a social media campaigner Inturi Ravi Kiran for posting allegedly derogatory comments against him on the Facebook page is still fresh in the minds of the people.

Nobody would expect that he would tolerate critical comments from those appointed by him in key posts.

On Tuesday, Naidu sacked Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation chairman I Y R Krishna Rao from the post for the simple reason that he has posted some negative comments questioning certain government decisions and also shared anti-Naidu and anti-TDP comments made by others.

IYR, who retired as the first Chief Secretary after the bifurcation of the state last year, was appointed as the chairman of Brahmin Ccorporation with an outlay of Rs 100 crore to help poor Brahmins.

It has a cabinet rank and has all the perks and other benefits. Naturally, Naidu expected Krishna Rao to be loyal to him.

But being an upright officer, Krishna Rao could not remain silent on the casteist policies adopted by Naidu and his anti-democratic decisions.

For example, he questioned Naidu’s decision to grant entertainment tax exemption to Gautami Putra Satakarni, the film of Nandamuri Balakrishna and permit the distributors of Baahubali-2 to increase the ticket prices.

He also found fault with Naidu government, albeit indirectly, the action taken against Ravi Kiran.

All his comments were shared by YSR Congress party social media managers that evoked anger from the TDP leaders and fans. They brought it to the notice of Naidu, who called for an explanation from Krishna Rao and finally decided to sack him.
