Hyderabad As Second Capital Of India?

At the time of bifurcation of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, there were a lot of demands with regard to the status of Hyderabad.

Some people wanted it as a permanent joint capital of both Telangana and Andhra; some others demanded that it should be made a union territory. A few others suggested that Greater Hyderabad should be declared as an autonomous administrative unit like Delhi.

And there was also a demand for making Hyderabad as the second capital city of the country, after New Delhi. This was based on a suggestion made by B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian constitution.

But none of the demands or suggestions were taken into consideration and the UPA government announced Hyderabad as the capital of Telangana, which can be used as joint capital for 10 years till AP builds its own capital.

Now, the demand for making Hyderabad as second capital of India has once again surfaced. This demand has surprisingly come from Telangana TDP leaders.

Former minister and TDP leader Mothkupalli Narasimhulu on Monday made this demand and said it was essential to remove disparities among the people in the capital.

“The development of weaker sections is possible only if Hyderabad becomes second capital of the country,” he said.

Any takers?
