An AIIMS and IIM have already been sanctioned for AP. The foundation stone for three more premier institutions will be laid on March 28 by Union HRD Minister, Smriti Irani in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu.
The three institutions are IIT, IIIT and IISER. Incidentally, all the three institutions are coming up in Chittoor, Naidu’s native district.
The initiative shown by the government in getting these premier institutions sanctioned for AP is certainly laudable.
Quality institutions in our State will help our children to stay in AP itself while getting the benefits of global curriculum and standards at the same time. And if Naidu manages to get at least 10% of investments of what he has planned for the State, there will be no dearth of jobs either!
The only problem with Naidu is that he seems to be of the opinion that development can come only at the expense of agriculture, which is not correct. Urbanization has to maintain a balance with agriculture. That is when, the State would be stable and maintain all-round development.
