Hyderabad: Tensions have been rising and there has been a lot of anticipation regarding the new capital city of AP.
It was said that Chandra Babu will be making a formal announcement today confirming Vijayawada as the new capital. But the formal announcement has been deferred for now, despite various stories which said that Babu will be making the announcement on Tuesday in the Assembly.
However, Tuesday happens to be thithi asthami and YS Jagan had gone to Idupulapaya for the death anniversary of late YSR. So, the announcement has been postponed. The latest news is that an announcement is likely to be made on Thursday which is a dasami.
Meanwhile, the government has expressed its unhappiness over the Sivaramakrishnan Committee report. Chandra Babu is adamant that the new capital city should be developed between Krishna and Guntur.
It is being said that Babu had made it clear to his cabinet members that the report’s suggestions were only advisory and not mandatory.
Mr Naidu has promised the state a capital better than Hyderabad. The cost of building that could be an estimated 5 lakh crore rupees. The state has sought Rs. 5,000 crore initially from the Centre, but raising money is expected to be a big challenge.
