Of late, the public have been surprised by the TRS attack on the NDA citing a negligent attitude towards Telangana by the NDA.
What exactly is the reason for this hardening of stance towards the Center? The reason is not hard to guess.
The Union Government has collected Rs 1,274.21 crore as tax from the Telangana account of the Beverage Corporation Limited.
Telangana’s contention is that the tax was collected for the assessment year of 2012-13 when Andhra Pradesh was undivided. Also, the issue of bifurcation of the Beverages Corporation was pending in the Court.
Hence, until the court verdict was given, it requested the Union Government to return the Rs 1,274.21 tax money.
Even though KTR made a personal representation to Arun Jaitley, there has been no favorable response to date. Hence, the onslaught on the NDA.
