The BJP and TDP seem to have taken the people of AP for granted, for they are spinning the same trick on the latter again.
If Chandrababu Naidu believes that the special status is still a possibility, why did he get his officials to prepare a blueprint asking for Rs 50,000 crore to be disbursed to AP in three phases, as a special package?
In fact, there is a sneaking suspicion that Chandrababu was aware right from day one of assuming office that NDA will not give special status to AP.
Now, the NDA has become bold enough to declare directly in Parliament that no special status will be given to any State. They do not fear the wrath of the people of AP.
Instead, they say that a special package will be provided to the State and the interests of AP will be protected. Isn’t that what they said prior to bifurcation? Only difference is that the word ‘special status’ has now been replaced with ‘special package’.
What is to prevent them from going back on this promise as well? Neither Modi nor Chandrababu Naidu commands any further credibility with the people of AP. Duping the people of AP consistently has become their favorite hobby.
