Ex union minister Chidambaram has been named by CBI for his role in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
The former finance minister had the authority to give the FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) approval to the tune of Rs 600 crore. But he stretched the limit to Rs 3500 crore, said CBI.
CBI has further suggested that the case must be sent to the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA).
So it looks inevitable that the former finance minister might now face enquiry for his involvement in 2G case.
Already, the CBI had accused Dayanidhi Maran and Kalanidhi Maran in the case. Looks like the clean image of Chidambaram will be a thing of past.
