The affected farmers of the new capital region are putting up a fight all by themselves. Nobody from the Opposition Parties has come forward in a significant manner to take up their cause, barring the Communists.
But since the Communists do not have any presence in Andhra Pradesh, their remarks are not being taken seriously.
Although YS Jagan Reddy did do a dharna for a couple of days and is making cursory references to the issue, one gets the feeling that he is just going through the motions of an opposition leader rather than seriously putting the government on the back foot regarding this issue.
As for the Congress guilty of the heinous crime of bifurcation, even their best intentions will not earn the trust of the people.
The poor farmers aided by a few good Samaritans like retired High Court Judge, Lakshman Reddy are fighting a lone battle. They have now decided to form a Joint Action Committee and approach the Center and judiciary directly to protect their lands, culture and livelihood. God be with them!
