Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council D Srinivas on Monday criticized the TRS Government for taking a unilateral decision with regard to election of Council chairman.
Srinivas demanded that the decision to elect Chairman for Telangana Council should be postponed. Accompanied by Telangana Congress Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Srinivas called on the Governor and appealed to him to prevail upon the government to put on hold the elections of Council Chairman. He said he wanted to know as to why the government took a hasty decision to conduct the election.
Srinivas maintained that they had strength in the Council as per the rules. He alleged that the TRS Government was encouraging defections.
Leaders were switching loyalties to the ruling party only for greener pastures, he said, adding that the TRS Government was taking hasty steps without informing the Opposition party. “It is totally wrong and violation of constitutional norms", he bemoaned.
