Don't Attack Mudragada, Naidu Tells Party Leaders

Apparently realising the sensitivity of the renewed Kapu agitation, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have asked his party leaders to maintain restraint on the padayatra taken up by Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham.

Naidu reportedly instructed the party leaders to not to attack Mudragada by addressing press conferences and make provocative statements.

“It is obvious that he is trying to provoke us to take action, so that the agitation turns violent. But let us not react to his padayatra. Let him do it and we shall go in our own way to counter it,” the chief minister told the party leaders.

He asked them to extensively propagate the steps taken by the government so far on the Kapu reservation issue and the welfare schemes being implemented for them.

“At the same time, we need to tell the Kapus that the government is serious in including them in BCs. We are also talking to BC associations to see that there is no counter agitation. Since it is a sensitive issue, we have to deal with it cautiously, so that BCs will not get hurt. After all, they are our strong vote bank,” he said.
