Different States, Different Approaches

The Telangana government on Friday sanctioned Rs 825.16 crore to provide necessary infrastructure for Krishna Pushkarams in the state.

Endowments minister A Indrakaran Reddy said construction of roads, bathing ghats and electrification works will be taken up in Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda districts.

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh government had announced that it would be spending Rs 3846 crore on the Krishna Pushkarams. It is a bit strange, this allocation of resources.

Telangana which is a surplus state is committed to Rs 800 crore whereas an impoverished Andhra Pradesh has earmarked Rs 4000 crore nearly for the event. This probably explains why Naidu is doing well on the financial side although AP may be poor.

He might be needing the money to convince YSRCP leaders that he is committed to development whereas KCR probably wants to save the remaining money because his job is nearly over.
