Did KCR Walk Out Of Meeting With Naidu?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has mastered the art of making tall claims and defending them later to suit his needs.

The other day, Naidu attended the meeting of Apex Council on river water sharing between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, convened by Union water resources minister Uma Bharati in New Delhi. From Telangana side, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao attended the meeting.

The initial information from Delhi was that KCR had successfully demolished the argument of Naidu on the construction of Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi lift irrigation projects on Krishna river by producing relevant GOs and presenting a video-clipping of the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in support of the projects. There were reports that Naidu was forced to agree for the projects and as a result, his own cabinet colleagues expressed displeasure.

But on Wednesday, Naidu sought to project a different picture. He told his cabinet colleagues that the official of the Water Resources Ministry had in fact agreed with the AP argument on the Telangana irrigation projects and told KCR categorically that the GOs were infructuous as the projects had no permission at all.

“KCR got pissed off and got up to walk out of the meeting. I took the initiative and pacified him, stating that the issue could be resolved through negotiations. He respected my seniority and returned to his seat,” Naidu told them.

He made it clear that sometimes, give-and-take attitude has to be displayed by seniors and it would definitely resolve the issues.
