Demolitions: KCR Pushes Son To Corner!

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has pushed his son K T Rama Rao into deep trouble by directly making him responsible for overseeing the demolition of illegal structures and buildings that came up on nalas, drains and tank beds.

KCR, who is presently touring Nizamabad district, called up KTR, who holds the Municipal Administration and Urban Development portfolio, and asked him to ensure that the demolition drive is carried out irrespective of pulls and pressures from the local public representatives.

The chief minister, who was furious over the reports that the demolitions are being stalled by the TRS legislators themselves, called them and pulled them up for siding with the encroachers.

The sources said that the chief minister was taking the issue seriously and ordered the minister KTR to go with the demolitions sternly on the second day. KCR also advised KTR to use extra manpower in case of any necessary but was determined to clear the drainage systems that were occupied by squatters for decades across the city which have been causing blockage of drainage system ending up flooding the low-lying areas.

Now, KTR is under pressure. Sources said he has been getting calls from the TRS leaders not to demolish their buildings and told him that the floods would recede in a couple of days and the government could think of an alternative plan to restore nalas. But with KCR being firm, the son has expressed his helplessness.
