Defying The Constitution

Although the Supreme Court has said that the 'Aadhar' is not mandatory for availing of government services or any service for that matter, the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh pay little heed to its judgement.

In Andhra Pradesh, the TDP has made it mandatory for almost everything whereas in Telangana, the TRS has started off with making it mandatory for all RTA transactions.

Aadhar definitely might be beneficial in eliminating middle-men but the key thing here is: ‘How can governments make Aadhar mandatory when the Supreme Court itself has said that it is not mandatory?”

As constitutionally elected governments, surely they ought to respect the judgement of the Supreme Court?
