The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation is going to pool one lakh acres of land for setting up industries across the state. One lakh acres! That’s right!
Acquisition of land for development is inevitable and no one disputes this fact, but where’s the sense in acquiring a land bank beforehand, for companies which may or may not come up in future. In the meantime, the persons dependent on the land would lose their livelihood as well. Besides, what use is the government making of the land already available with APIIC?
If the government is not able to make optimum use of the land bank already available with APIIC, what is the rationale behind going in for acquisition of another one lakh acres?
For all of Naidu’s foreign trips, the only company that set up shop in AP following bifurcation is Doordarshan which has its AP headquarters in Vijayawada now. Ironically, it is the only channel that has programmes useful to farmers.
Since there might not be any farmers left in AP soon, even Doordarshan may have to close down.
