A cold war of sorts is said to be brewing between Panchayat Raj and IT minister K T Rama Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao over launching of their pet schemes, ostensibly to gain political mileage.
While KTR is hell bent on launching his favourite scheme -- Water Grid project -- to provide drinking water to all gram panchayats by June, Harish Rao has already made preparations for the launch of his pet scheme Mission Kakatiya (restoration of minor irrigation tanks in Telangana).
KTR is making hectic district tours to bring pressure on officials to complete the exercise for launch of Water Grid project. On the other hand, Harish Rao has completed the exercise, including construction of pylon at Warangal and is awaiting the appointment of Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati for formally launching Mission Kakatiya project.
It is learnt KTR is adamant that Water Grid should be launched first and Mission Kakatiya could be taken up later. He is also bringing pressure on his father Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to release funds. However, KCR is said to be favouring Harish Rao. He is going to Delhi on Thursday to get Uma Bharati’s appointment, sources said.
